General Adoption Policies for All Animals

If you are considering a dog and have other dogs at home, we recommend introducing them here at the Humane Society before making the final decision to adopt. We have many walking paths and an enclosed play yard for introductions.

We do not adopt puppies or kittens under ten weeks of age to familes with children younger that five years.

NO adoptions to students living on campus.

All adopters must comply with city/county ordinance requirements.

We reserve the right to refuse any adoption if these requirements are not met.

All city and county dogs are requited to be confined on the owner's property. City /county ordinance requires all dogs to be leashed when off their property.  In rural unincoporated areas dogs may be off lead if supervised and under voice command of their owners.

City/county ordinance requires that cats not be allowed to run at large; they must be confined to their owners property.

PUPPIES AND KITTENS UNDER 4 MONTHS

Puppies and kittens under 4 months old may only be adopted if the owner signs a written agreement to spay or neuter the animal before it reaches 6 months of age. The Humane Society will refund a portion of the adoption fee to help cover the cost of surgery.

DOGS AND CATS OVER 4 MONTHS OF AGE

All cats and dogs over the age of 4 months shall be spayed or neutered before leaving the facility. Our staff will set an appointment with one of the area vets, transport

the animal to that vet and then pick it up.
New pet owners may then claim their pet at the Humane Society, usually with in 48 hours.
